Children who have children

I have spent a huge amount of time at the monster in laws over the past few weeks, and nearly every morning she watches The Jeremy Kyle Show. For my friends over the pond, this is along the lines of Jerry Springer, or the female chat show host with the red hair and redder spectacles, whose name escapes me.

Almost every episode has been a "Who is the father of the baby?" programme, and a typical installment consists of a dna test being done on three chavs and a baby, and none of them turning out to be the father anyway.

How tragic are these stories? Spotty schoolgirls who think it is highly hysterical to air their dirty linen on tv. Think it is amusing that they have had unprotected sex with numerous different men, over a short space of time. They seem to have no feelings or thought for their babies (how dreadful for these children to be watching the video in years to come of their fathers swearing and refusing paternity).

There must be something we can do about this alarming and depressing culture. I don't mean the tv programme (although it seems to promote the "hilarity" of the situation) but the whole situation itself.

My personal, highly contraversial and unpopular solutions, would be to refuse these mothers council houses, refuse them their £500 starter kit maternity benefit, and make them do menial jobs whilst their children are in creches.

I have loads more ideas, but would hate be thought of as a facist.

Mobility Scooters...the work of the devil?

Am so much happier with this more grown up template. Can't believe I was posting in all that pink!
I am having a Friday moan. After following an invalid car, (from what feels like all the way from Trowbridge) I would like to know exactly what rights these disability cars have? Are they supposed to be on the roads or the pavements? They don't pay road tax do they? So surely the pavement is the place for these contraptions. I am extremely sorry for people with disabilities....but quite frankly...drive on the bloody pavement!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi-Ho Silver Lining

Stews dad died last week, so this week has been spent making funeral arrangements and pushing pens around forms that mostly I have no idea what the hell they are saying.

Anyway, yesterday we chose the hymns for the funeral, and then the funeral director asked if we would like any music when people leave. Stews mother then replied without batting an eyelid "Yes, Hi-Ho Silver Lining by Jeff Beck" Which got me to thinking about songs for funerals and which would I have. I have always insisted that my funeral song would be something classy but could never quite think of it, seeing as somebody else would probably have chosen it already.

So instead I have decided on Rehab by Amy Winehouse :oD

Films I Should watch...but don't want to.

There are some films know I should watch, but don't have the courage. This is mainly because, despite all the tough talk, I am actually a wimp. So anything above a 12 certificate is usually not the film for me. Ignorance is bliss in my book. So here is my list of films that I have never seen, but should.

Schindlers List
Gandhi
The Deerhunter
Midnight Express
The Blair Witch Project
Gladiator
The Passion of the Christ
Blood Diamond
Gangs of New York

Passport to Pimlico

Because we currently have a family plight, I find my self awake at different times of day watching tv. (Which I don't often do, unless you count Tom and Jerry, Jumanji and Basil Brush for my daughter) If you keep the sky button pressed down, you can find yourself all the really obscure channels. The Bonanza channel shows a 1954 series of Sherlock Holmes (which I am currently reading) at 10am and TCM always has a fab black and white film on. I find myself here at 6.30am looking forward to the start of Mrs Parkington with Greer Garson and Walter Pidgeon,

It makes me realise, I should have been born circa 1930. I adore the Passpoort to Pimlico, Arsenic and Old Lace, Dark Victory, Lavender Hill Mob type films. They are the very best.
