Cross Guns, Avoncliff.

Tonight I am going out! With Stewart! Am very excited, as we never get to go out together often due to the lack of babysitters. None of my (very sparse) family live here, and I don't like to ask his family unless it is a really important event. Anyway, The Monster-in-Law has offered for Lizzy to go and stay tonight! This is where we are going. It is a really old pub in between here and Bath. If they don't cater for veggies, I'll come back hungry. We aren't even booking a table. So we might well end up at Pizza Hut.
So anyway...tell me your perfect night out!!

Well, I don't know about perfect but about three months ago, we decided to go to a quiz night in the next village. It was the most I'd walked since I snapped my hamstring so we took it slowly. Anyway, we hadn't eaten so we went to the Chippy (which happens to be a chinese one and very good) then we sat on a bench and ate our lovely crunchy haddock and chips, tossed the wrappers into a bin and ambled off to the village hall where we were paired up with two old dears, one of whom certainly didn't know which planet she was on. There were about eighty people and we didn't do spectacularly well but we had a good evening. Then we walked back to the flat and had a early night. Come to think of it, it was that last bit that made it extra nice. Aren't I easy to please? Hope you both have a really lovely evening, Clanks. x

Quiz night sounds like a lot of fun. How does it work?

Jilly...I laughed at loud at your cooking. Stewart cooked for me once. He made me salad and peas. Nothing else.No potatoes or bread or rice... Just lettucey type stuff and peas. I could never decide if he thought this was a satisfying meal, or if he wanted me to lose weight. Anyway, that was about nine years ago, and he hasn't "cooked" for me since that day.

We did indeed have a fabulous night out, and indeed, they did cater for veggies...so I had ratatouille. Scrummy.

Marion...I love quizzing. I love the quiz rooms and would love to be in a pub quiz team type thing, but I can never find anyone else who would do it.

Schell, what usually happens is you go to a pub where a quizmaster has set some questions. You all pay a fee to play, and normally you find you sit in teams of four or six. Then whoever wins takes a share of the prize money and then the rest goes to a charity.

And in about 95 days time, it will be even more enjoyable, because it will be smoke free.
