Stews dad died last week, so this week has been spent making funeral arrangements and pushing pens around forms that mostly I have no idea what the hell they are saying.
Anyway, yesterday we chose the hymns for the funeral, and then the funeral director asked if we would like any music when people leave. Stews mother then replied without batting an eyelid "Yes, Hi-Ho Silver Lining by Jeff Beck" Which got me to thinking about songs for funerals and which would I have. I have always insisted that my funeral song would be something classy but could never quite think of it, seeing as somebody else would probably have chosen it already.
So instead I have decided on Rehab by Amy Winehouse :oD

....Ooooh and do you think there are songs which churches would refuse to let you have??????
I think vicars should ban Elton John, but that's just a personal vendetta of mine.
I shall be having gracie Fields singing wish me luck as you wave me good bye.
I am also going top pay people to stand around saying " she was too good for this world you know "
Even though I am not a George Michael fan...Wake me Up Before you Go-go?
"Even though I am not a George Michael fan...Wake me Up Before you Go-go?"
That was Wofly's song!
I always say I want Carly Simon to come and sing at my funeral.
Singing what? Not the Incy Wincy pider one. I couldn't listen to her singing the River one, because that always makes me cry.
John Prine singing:
Please don't bury me
Down in that cold cold ground
No, I'd druther have 'em cut me up
And pass me all around
Ha! How cool are those lyrics? Can't find the track to listen to anywhere, sadly.
Schell, Wolfy sang that to ME!!!
even though I have no idea who Stew is . . . rest in peace
Stew is my husband, and it was his dad who died.
I'm having Maria Callas singing O Mio Babbino Caro, just because the music is so beautiful. If I could find a version with just music and no words, I'd have that instead.
Talking of John Prine... as somebody up there ^ ^ ^ was, have you heard 'In Spite of Ourselves' ? The second line of the second verse always makes me burst out laughing.
Haven't heard of "In Spite of Ourselves"....hadn't even heard of John Prine before.
"I caught him once and he was sniffin my undies"
yep I see what you mean, Trout.
