The whole weekend has been taken up with Dizzys 4th birthday. Somehow, she managed to get three birthday cakes. One, she took to nursery on Friday. One she had at her party yesterday. And the last one she had for her party tea for her actual birthday today. I also had to go the dreaded Yellow M, but they do now provide a rather nice Spicy Beanburger Deli roll, which I had on brown bread. My daughter has gone to bed, full of sugar and probably dreaming of Barbies and Gameboys. As you can see, I bottled out of a proper party, and just took them all to one of those bouncing places that provide it all for you. Stew is now able to drive and has one more week off sick before he can go back to work on light duties. Sadly, whilst he was off we sold the car, but haven't found another one we want.

That brought back so many memories of the girls birthdays when they were younger.. nowadays it is more vodka and kebabs than jelly and ice-cream!
...jelly and ice cream WAS on the menu :o)
my niece turned 4 on the 18th, i'm going to have cake for her later this week and dinner with my friends. my family was never big on birthday parties, we usually just do dinner and a family cake. we took my nephew to rainforest cafe for his birthday (5th) in april, so i know i'll have to think of something good for trixie's 4th dinner. did your daughter get everything she wanted?

She didn't ask for anything Jilly. She hasn't grasped yet that she can choose gifts, I just choose them for her. But she got a swingball, a gameboy, a barbie and a Basil Brush DVD so she was extremely happy.
my parents weren't big on birthday gifts, sometimes we got stuff, sometimes we didn't. my mom always had a firm rule, if we went to a birthday party, teh gift came from all of us and it was no more than $15. her thinking was that she didn't buy her own kids presents, why should she spend money on other people?
