The McCanns

I don't like jumping on the bandwagon. However, Madeline is almost to the day the same age as Lizzy. And I have followed this case like I have never followed a news story before. I turn the TV on all the time to see any updates.

1) Even if you were a total nonbeliever in God, would you be able to sit in front of the Pope and ask for his prayers if you had killed your own child? Purposely or accidentally?

2) How would you manage to stay so calm and well dressed and made up if your child was missing?

3) If one parent had killed her, then both had.

4) When I was a child and we used to go to Pontins on holiday, we were left alone in chalets. In the "ballroom" they would be a flashing light saying things like "Child crying in Chalet 29". Perhaps it is different in this day and age. But none of us are perfect parents.

5) I almost hope that the McCanns did kill her. Because if they did, it sounds as if it was accidentally. Which means she died in her sleep. And the alternatives don't bear thinking about.

6) If they didn't kill their daughter, then we are treating these victims of a terrible crime, appallingly.

7) On what evidence do we have to take the twins away?

8) When we are on holiday, we get Lizzy to sleep for an hour in the late afternoon so that she can stay up later. We can then all go out together.

Clanks,
Horrible situation all 'round.
If the parents didn't do it then we may never know who did.

PS: just a thought on asking the Pope . .etc.... a sociopath could very well do this, or someone who is mentally ill and has blotted out the crime

but they'd both have to be sociopaths

I just found it interesting that in this day and age, you leave your young children alone in a hotel room. I worry about leaving my dog alone for a day.

THis day and age is statistically no worse than any other day and age for child abuductions and murders by strangers in the UK the sttatistics have remained pretty much the same since before the second world war , only hysteria usrrounding the reporting of it has changed.I;d leave my fuckign children with michael jackson if it gave me ten minutes peace some days

I haven't been following this story closely because it's too gut wrenching. Did they take their other children away?

No but there's a petition on line demanding that they are taken away . People are vicious cunts

here are a few of my thoughts

1) people over here seem to go nuts when a white kid goes missing or is abused.
2) just because it usually is the parents, doesn't mean that it always is the parents
3) people are so paranoid about poisoned halloween candy and razor blade apples, but the only time candy made kids ill, it was given by family/parents, not strangers. i think the razor blade apple story was a myth.
4) my parents used to leave us alone for long periods of time, but that was to go to work. no one ever said anything about it to them. maybe it would have been different if we had suceeded in killing each other while fighting?
5) i have a feeling that my mom would have given andrea yates a run for her money if she hadn't had time away from us, even if her job was to weld steel in a factory for 10-12 hours a day.

6)how's working and going to school, as well as your daughter being at school, clank?

Was I too overprotective as a parent? Tim was never out of eyesight or close earshot at that age. Hell, I get antsy and have to sit on my hands these days, knowing that he's out doing moderately dangerous stuff.

Always good to visit here, Clank, darling.

Roger, I am the most overprotective parent in the world. I have had tears over her starting school because another child punched her. And I know she will have to deal with all this, and I dealt with myself as a child. That that doesn't kill us... etc etc.

Jilly...thanks for taking time out of what must be a fabulous and busy time. We are all well, thanks for asking sweetie :o)
