And a British Rail poster read "Have an Away Day"

I have been watching my classic and good quality films, as I promised myself I would now that we have a V+ box. I thouroughly enjoyed The Englishman who went up a Hill and Down a Mountain. Thought Vera Drake was hard work. Adored the Big Sleep (Don't know why Humprey Bogart was gorgeous, but he was) and after I watched Angelas Ashes, I couldn't think about anything else for days. Wish I had read the book now.

I love TCM. They also run old mini series, and one of the current ones is Martin Chuzzlewit. Which is my particualr favourite Dickens book.

We watched a lot of TCM during their Oscar month. It was really hilarious (to me anyway) when a lot of their movies had been made the year Den was born and that he'd seen most of the others when they first played at the movie house ;-)

I don't think I ever saw a Black or Asian family on the programme. Or a family with step parents.

And What would happen if you only had one child? I presume you weren't allowed to play

when I was at the convent we were invited to send in applications for ask the family so I think that they targeted nice middle class white christian families from the south.Do you remember that Not the nine oclock news sketch where they took the piss and all the fathers were accountants/

Dickens, Schmickens! I liked the up a hill, down a mountain film too and also found Vera Drake hard going although I ended up liking it. The accents were so strong that I finally gave up and turned on the subtitling, though!
