I have been working on a till this week at the Asda Mecca. We are, as a company, gradually removing free carrier bags. On the whole, people have been sensible and agreed it is a good thing. However, these are also some of the comments I got....
"What am I going to pick up my dog poo with?!" (nappy sacks?)
"What am I going to use as a bin liner?" (bin liners?!?)
"I don't believe in global warming" (and your point is.....?)
"Absolute poppycock, I am going to shop at Tescos in future" (I bet they'll be pleased)
"So are the prices going to go down, seeing as you aren't giving me free bags anymore" (wanker)
"We are getting more like France every day, it's a bloody disgrace" (Absolutely no comment)

Alex shops at your store?
(psst...what's a nappy sack?)
never mind I took my advice and googled it.
funny comments, btw :)
walmart bags are crap anyway, they fall apart on the way to the car, same with grocery store bags if they don't double bag. when i was a little girl (before they used recycled plastic) the bags were of a better quality. as it is, i'm lucky to get my stuff from the store and into my house before the bag has more holes than swiss cheese and get a second use out of it. if we had recycling here, i'd probably recycle them. i don't see a problem in paying for the bags though, as people are wasteful and it's not your fault.
