We know major tom's a junkie...

I am gutted that the last Episode of Ashes to Ashes and been and passed. I sobbed, my heart stopped and I swooned over Phillip Glennister. I can't remember ever enjoying anything as much as Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes.

The Boys are Back in Town

I have finally managed to blag myself an interview. No idea if I can wangle myself the job, but I really want it. The job is at a school for autistic children. I will post any progress. I shan't count my chickens.

Have been to Salsacize today, never been before...a bit like aerobics but with a Latin American twist. I really enjoyed it.

Last night went to a Gala Bingo for the first time. Two of my friends had never been either, and luckily we agreed to split any winnings. One of us (not me!) won and so we came home with £30 each. Tonight is my Walmart greeters night. I might try and count how many obese people with leggings and a Lonsdale hoodie walk past me in my 4 hours on the door.

Academic inspiration...you gave me none

I am working today. Bank Holiday Monday in my mind numbing job as an Asda Walmart greeter. It is, however, the best spot in the world for people watching. and trust me, however fat you think you are, there are people out there twice the size. and without a fashion sense in the world.

Saturday's kids play on one arm bandits

  • Sorted out the office
  • Still can't park a car
  • Watched the fabulous 1962 film, To Kill a Mockingbird.
  • Have just started watching Fanny by Gaslight
  • Lizzy has the Chicken Pox for Easter
  • Stew got a scratched cornea at work
  • I only have three days until I can eat chocolate again - so I will be making a chocolate & orange cheesecake for Easter Sunday
  • Applied for two jobs and haven't even had a reply. Bastards.
  • Kate Nash's Merry Happy song is the most annoying catchy song ever
  • Why is it when your friends that are a couple split up, you end up losing them both? AND get stuck in the middle to boot
  • Stew's doing the London 10k race if anyone wants to sponsor him for Positive Action on Cancer
  • Happy Easter everyone

Labelled with Love

My mum and stepdad have bought a boat and is going to name it after my daughter. How cool is that!??! The boat is 10 years old and comes with a mooring only 5 minutes from their house. They can't decide on whether to call her Dizzy Rose, Elizabeth Rose, Lizzy Rose or just Dizzy, Lizzy or Elizabeth.

I am spending the whole day today sorting out the spare room. It is allegedly the study, but is full of books, junk, paperwork and old toys. I would take before and after photos, but am too ashamed.

I'm determined to throw out old books, but I always have this longing to cling to them.

Liza Radley, see her jump through loneliness...

Have you ever been really disappointed in a film? I was really looking forward to the 1983 film, Local Hero and thought it very unremarkable. It's only saving grace was the wonder Mark Knopfler soundtrack.

And a British Rail poster read "Have an Away Day"

I have been watching my classic and good quality films, as I promised myself I would now that we have a V+ box. I thouroughly enjoyed The Englishman who went up a Hill and Down a Mountain. Thought Vera Drake was hard work. Adored the Big Sleep (Don't know why Humprey Bogart was gorgeous, but he was) and after I watched Angelas Ashes, I couldn't think about anything else for days. Wish I had read the book now.

I love TCM. They also run old mini series, and one of the current ones is Martin Chuzzlewit. Which is my particualr favourite Dickens book.

Because dreams are made of this

I have a spot. A huge, teenage like spot on my chin. How can I have a teenage spot when I am middle aged with wrinkles? Seems highly unfair to me.

What are you reading?

I am reading The Clerkenwell Tales by Peter Ackroyd. It is set in the 1300s and it loosely based on the Canterbury Tales. I adore Peter Ackroyd. London the Biography by Peter is my very favourite non-fiction book.

Sips another rum and coke...

Me and Stew have had a huge row. It is only the third in 11 years, but I have been blubbing for 24 hours. Men are very thoughtless sometimes. I am attempting not to sulk, as I abhor sulking. However, I am so mad with him, I am struggling to speak.
