TO LUCY BARFIELD
My Dear Lucy,
I wrote this story for you, but when I began it I had not realised that girls grow quicker than books. As a result you are already too old for fairy tales, and by the time it is printed and bound you will be older still. But some day you will be old enough to start reading fairy tales again. You can then take it down from some upper shelf, dust it, and tell me what you think about it. I shall probably be too old to understand a word you say, but I shall still be

How fabulous to have a book dedicated to you.

Blimey! That would be fab! Get it published then!!!!!
it'd be interesting to have a porno dedicated to someone
a little screen at the beginning "this is dedicated to Danielle, rest in piece" or "hi Elise, will you marry me?'

How can anyone be too old for fairy tales... says the woman with all the blue green and brown fairy books and Arthur Rackham blah blah blah.
Don't look at me Orbie--my favorite writing assignment for my students is to write fairy tales ;-)
everyone who knows me knows i didn't really buy all those books for the baby, i bought them because i loved them and just happened to be having a baby. i may have to buy second copies of all those books so she can ruin her own and leave mine alone....
i think i loved the book big fish so much because it was a modern fairy tale from start to finish. that books still makes me cry.
